The Technical Working Group for Fire and
Explosions-Scene Response (TWGFEX-Scene)
 
The mission, goals, and structure of the TWGFEX-Scene Committee were established at an organizational meeting of the response professionals held in February 1999. 

TWGFEX-Scene Mission Statement
 
The mission of TWGFEX-Scene is to establish and maintain 

nationally accepted programs for the forensic investigation of fire, arson, and explosion scenes and devices.  Further, to promote and maintain dialogue among personnel in the public safety and legal communities.

 

TWGFEX-Scene Goals

 

The mission will be accomplished by:

 

Promoting professional development in fire and explosion investigations; 

 

Promoting and facilitating information exchange within the fire and explosion investigation community, and between these investigators and the legal and laboratory communities;

 

Developing and maintaining guidelines for fire and explosion investigations, scene examinations, and documentation; 

 

Performing collaborative exercises;

 

Identifying job requirements for investigators' knowledge, skills, and abilities; 

 

Establishing quality assurance guidelines to promote the reliability of the investigation and the results; 

Gaining national acceptance of TWGFEX guidelines.

Scientific Working Group for Fire and Explosions (SWGFEX)

 

The mission, goals, and structure of the SWGFEX Committee were established at organizational meetings of laboratory analysts held in August 1998.

 

SWGFEX- Mission Statement

The mission of SWGFEX is to make recommendations for nationally accepted guidelines for the forensic examination of fire and 

 

 

 

explosive materials and residues.

 

SWGFEX- Goals 

The mission will be accomplished by:

 

Promoting professional development in fire and explosives analysis; 


Providing a means of information exchange within the forensic science community; 


Providing guidelines for fire and explosives investigations, examinations, and reporting; 


Performing collaborative exercises; 


Specifying requirements for analysts' knowledge, skills, and abilities; 


Establishing quality assurance guidelines; 


Gaining national acceptance of SWGFEX guidelines.
